A story of redemption for Miguel Cabrera

Robin Buckson/Detroit News You may or may not know the story of Detroit Tiger first baseman Miguel Cabrera. To sum it up quickly the night before the Tigers’ biggest game of the year last season, Cabrera found himself drinking heavily, got into a domestic situation with his wife and wound up in jail.  Full details of the story can be read here.(Detroit News)

Yes Cabrera has the financial resources to get the best treatment in the land but the real story is he used those resources realizing he had a huge problem and now seems to be a better man for it.  When I see this short video (click here) I see a man that is at peace with himself.

It reminds us what the Serenity Prayer means.

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

Just remember, there is a path to a better life for everyone from the very poor to the very rich.
