In our second Substance Abuse 411 conversation, I talk with Dr. Mark Menestrina who is the Medical Director of the Detox Unit of Brighton Hospital in Brighton, Michigan.

Dr. Menestrina is also a board member of the Livonia Save Our Youth Task Force as well as the Building Better Families Through Action.

He is Board Certified in Family Practice and certified by the American Society of Addiction Medicine.

Our conversation covers exactly what Brighton Hospital is, its treatment program and Dr. Menestrina’s personal journey from substance abuse to being involved in the treatment of over 20,000 chemically dependent patients and their families.

Mark shares how FAN came into being after the death of his son to drug abuse in 2007 and what the organization is doing to help fight this growing problem in all of our communities.
