Substance Abuse 411-#5-Author Sheryl McGinnis

Substance Abuse 411-#5-Author Sheryl McGinnis

Slaying addiction

In this Substance Abuse 411 conversation I talk with Sheryl Letzgus McGinnis who has turned the loss of her son Scott into a passion for writing books on substance abuse.

Sheryl Letzgus McGinnis has written three books on drugs and addiction along with numerous articles both online and in print publications. The death of her youngest son, Scott, prompted her to write the books so that others might learn about addiction, to understand the disease, to realize they are not alone and to understand that good kids do drugs too, that addiction is a real, chronic relapsing disease and not a moral failing.

Her books are:

“I am your disease: The many faces of addiction”

“Slaying the Addiction Monster"

“The Addiction Monster and the Square Cat”

Sheryl is a member of the Parent Advisory Board of The Partnership for a Drug-Free America.  She and her husband have one living child. They live in Palm Bay, Florida and are owned by three spoiled rotten cats with a God complex.
