Substance Abuse 411-#40-Peer Recovery coaches-Mary Jo Mather-IC & RC

Possibly the greatest resource in substance abuse recovery are those that have walked the walk of addiction and now are sober. Now that resource is being tapped with the rapidly growing segment of Peer Recovery Coaches.

Peer Recovery Coaches use their personal experiences of recovery to facilitate and built resilience of persons with addiction, mental illness, or co-occurring substance abuse and mental disorders.

Because of this growing area of work, the IC & RC is developing the first international credential process for Peer Recovery Coaches.

Substance Abuse 411 talks with Mary Jo Mather the Executive Director of the IC & RC about the credentialing process and exactly what a Peer Recovery Coach is.

  2. I am very interested in this program. In order to help others to find recovery and learn why to NOT START in the first place, I'm seeking a place to "Peer" counsel. Is there such a place in Indiana, or is it necessary to get yet another certificate saying that I know?

  3. Alcohol Recovery Center
